Anthony J. Harper
President & CEO, Managed Investments - Asia Pacific
Anthony J. Harper is President and Chief Executive Officer for Managed Investments – Asia Pacific at BNY Mellon. He is responsible for the company’s strategic objective to launch and grow a managed accounts business in the region. He is also a member of the company’s Asia Pacific Operating Committee and a member of the company’s Asia Pacific Executive Committee for Investment Management.
Before relocating to Hong Kong in late 2012, he was Co-President of Pershing Managed Account Solutions and Managing Director for Pershing LLC and Lockwood Advisors, Inc., both BNY Mellon companies. His leadership contributed to recognition by the Money Management Institute and other industry groups for market advances in unified managed account, low balance wrap and other managed money solutions.
Prior to his role at Pershing, Anthony was President of PNC Managed Investments Inc. where he was also a member of the Operating Committee of PNC Global Investment Servicing and the Leadership Group of PNC Financial Services Group, its parent company. He joined PNC Global Investment Servicing (formerly PFPC Worldwide, Inc.) in 2004 to establish the company’s product development and strategy unit responsible for investor services and securities services globally.
Other previous roles include Vice President of European business development for Federated Investors, Inc. He was one of the founders in 1998 of Federated Asset Management GmbH, the company's German joint venture with LVM Versicherungen A.G., launching institutional separate account and mutual fund investment capabilities. He was also Director of Federated’s U.S. broker-dealer, Edgewood Services, Inc., pioneering efficient access for U.S. private banks in third-party mutual fund trading. Anthony began his career as an intern at Federated in its product development department and eventually joined as Product Manager with roles in its plan administration, fund services, international and trust groups. He was part of the team that launched the first money market mutual funds offered by a U.S. company for distribution via the UCITS directive to the European community.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from The Johns Hopkins University and a Graduate Diploma from The University's Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies. He was an English-Speaking Union scholar.
