Director, Investment Management
Jin Tao is Director of Investment Management with Morningstar Investment Management Asia, overseeing the
investment and business development in Asia. She is responsible for developing local investment strategies, designing
and implementing innovative custom investment solutions for our institutional clients in Asia.
Promoted to this position in 2013, Tao previously was a senior investment consultant with the Investment Advisory
group of the Morningstar Investment Management division. She focused on developing asset allocation programs for
institutional clients and works with clients to select appropriate asset classes, construct model portfolios, select
managers and funds, perform quantitative and qualitative due diligence, and recommend solutions to client products,
services, and deliverables. Jin’s work also focused on developing fund-of-funds solutions for institutional clients whose
AUM/AUA range from $200 million to $40 billion.
Tao joined Morningstar through the acquisition of Ibbotson Associates, where she spent two years as a financial
product analyst. She managed client relationships, providing asset allocation education, product training and support
to institutional clients. Prior to joining Ibbotson Associates in 2004, Tao was a financial software analyst at Thomson
Financial, where she developed various financial products.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Franklin University and a master’s degree in Finance from
DePaul University. Tao holds the Chartered Financial Analyst and Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst
designations. She is a member of the Investment Analysts Society of Chicago.
